- Infegy, a social monitoring and analytics firm, released its annual "The World's 50 Most Popular Brands" report, a tally of social mentions of 800 brands across the web.
- For the second year in a row, Google got top honors as the most mentioned brand online—despite falling 30% in mentions from last year. Disney was crowned the most loved brand, garnering 86% positive mentions over 11% negative mentions.
- The analytics Infegy used was able to determine: Which brands the people talk about most; overall positivity and negativity surrounding each brand; levels of positive purchase intent; the topics people reference most when talking about brands; and rankings based on several metrics including volume and sentiment.

Tracking social mentions and discussions of brands can be a fascinating practice for marketers. Even if your company didn't make the list, it can beneficial to see what other brands have done to generate buzz online. "This report shows how the world is changing and how a new generation is interacting with and responding to brands,” said Justin Graves, CEO and founder of Infegy in a press release.
“Marketers will need to make adjustments to their campaigns and initiatives in order to strategically reach consumers in a positive and engaging manner," he said.
