15 Year Veteran of TBWA\Chiat\Day Joins Fast Growing L.A. Creative Agency As Genius Battery Writer is Promoted to VP Creative Director
HOLLYWOOD, CA February 6, 2017 – – Battery, the independent creative agency that has been recognized as #8 on the Los Angeles Business Journal’s list of 100 fastest growing private companies in Los Angeles, has hired Scott Brown as VP Creative Director and promoted Raymond Hwang to VP Creative Director. These staffing moves reflect the agency’s accelerating expansion as its award-winning creative team takes on new high-profile clients and prestigious assignments, including LA's largest publicly traded company, AECOM.
Brown comes to Battery having previously been a Creative Director for TBWA\Chiat\Day in Los Angeles where he worked for the past 15 years on a variety of top accounts, including AirBnb, Visa, Netflix, Nissan, Southwest Airlines, Activision and Infinity. He worked directly with Lee Clow on Pepsi (Refresh) and has won top awards including One Show, D&AD, Cannes, Communication Arts and Effies. At Battery, Hwang has led award-winning campaigns for Warner Brothers Injustice 2, Mortal Kombat X, Mike’s Hard Lemonade and LEGO. He was previously at Saatchi & Saatchi and TBWA\Chiat\Day where he worked on clients such as Toyota, Surfrider, PlayStation, Energizer and Nissan. He is a marketer, writer, musician and surfer.
"I’ve witnessed Scott’s deep commitment to the creative process and to the craft of connecting with people to brands in a way that makes them feel something profound,” said Philip Khosid, CCO Battery. “He’s an extraordinary craftsman. He builds great brands and he's a perfect addition to Battery. I couldn't be more proud to have him on board.”
"The second I walked into Battery I knew it was a special place,” said Brown. “There’s a feeling of freedom that’s pervasive in all the work and an immediate comradery that feels like home. It very much feels like my early days at Chiat where I witnessed magic being made on a daily basis."
About Hwang, Khosid added: “Ray's creative vision and leadership has been unshakable from the very early days and he has been a lightning rod for Battery. I am humbled on a daily basis by his extraordinary talent. I can't wait for what comes next!”
“It’s exciting to see the Battery family grow,” said Hwang. “Since day one, we’ve made it a point to recognize big ideas and the people that make them happen. I couldn’t be happier about the promotion and the fact that Scott is part of the team. He and I go way back and I’m looking forward to doing big things together.”
