TWC offers app users chance to win Disney cruise

The Weather Channel is running internal spots within its iPhone application, promoting a sweepstakes for a chance to win a Disney cruise.

The sweepstakes is meant to promote an online sponsorship with Disney and TWC. The timing could not be better either ? spring and summer break from school is when parents plan family trips.

?With almost 10 million downloads, The Weather Channel application for iPhone is not only the top weather application on the platform, but also one of the most downloaded overall,? said Cameron Clayton, vice president of mobile at The Weather Channel, Atlanta.  

?Beyond the sheer reach The Weather Channel app offers advertisers, the application enhances interactivity for consumers,? he said. 

Banner ads within TWC?s application encourage consumers to click to win a Disney cruise.

The landing page tells consumers they could sail away on the magical Disney cruise of their dreams.

Consumers are asked to enter the drawing by giving their email address.

This is not the only sweepstakes that TWC is known for.

In June, the company hosted its second-annual mobile-themed promotion to give away a BlackBerry every day that month.

The promotional campaign was meant to promote the use of TWC?s enhanced mobile products as a resource for forecasts and lifestyle information through the mobile Web and downloadable applications.

?The Weather Channel continues to demonstrate its industry-leader position by developing innovative mobile products with both the advertiser and user in mind,? Mr. Clayton said.
