Boost Mobile continues alliance with Danica Patrick

Boost Mobile is continuing its alliance with racecar superstar Danica Patrick to promote its prepaid "Monthly Unlimited" plan, introduced earlier this year.

The Monthly Unlimited service allows customers to pay $50 up front for a month of unlimited anytime nationwide talk, text and multimedia messaging, wireless Web and Walkie-Talkie services.

"People are really feeling the economic pinch right now, and Boost is working hard to be the mobile phone company that gives financial flexibility and control back to value-seeking consumers, said Amy Johnsonbaugh, public relations specialist, Boost Mobile, Irvine, CA.

"While most prepaid providers claim to offer low prices, we aim to be 'value plus,' which means we deliver quality and value with our affordable phones and services," she said.

Boost Mobile is the prepaid division of Sprint Nextel and offers a wide range of high end to entry level Motorola handsets.

Ms. Patrick will be featured in the next chapter of "Unwronged" commercials, highlighting the wrongs consumers face when they choose competitor plans.

"Danica Patrick is the perfect representation of the Boost Mobile brand as she is unconventional, has edge and attacks the competition like Boost attacks the prepaid wireless market," Ms. Johnsonbaugh said.

The spots will air during the Indianapolis 500 on ABC beginning May 24 and will promote the new Motorola Clutch i465, Boost Mobile's first QWERTY phone equipped with a Walkie-Talkie function.

Paired with Boost Mobile's Monthly Unlimited plan, the commercials are aimed at budget-minded consumers who are unsatisfied with the value of other prepaid plans.

"The prepaid wireless market is one of the few and unconventional growth areas of the wireless frontier," Ms. Johnsonbaugh said. "It is primed for expansion with analyst projections showing increases in prepaid subscribers of up to 44 percent by the year 2013."

Being a female racer in a male-dominated sport, Ms. Patrick intends to represent those who have been "wronged" whether it's in the sports arena, or paying a wireless bill.

The campaign will be expressed through local radio spots, mobile billboards, online advertising and national TV spots.

This news comes on the heels of Ms. Patrick's current sponsorship with Boost Mobile (see story), which involves Patrick's No. 7 car, flagged in Boost Mobile's black and orange. She drove the car down the tarmac at the Indianapolis International Airport, debuting the design and promoting the Boost Mobile campaign.

"The sponsorship of Danica Patrick will help broaden the audience Boost Mobile is reaching and introduce prepaid to a more mainstream audience," Ms. Johnsonbaugh said.

"She has a huge fan base. Boost Mobile is excited about the opportunity to work with Danica and Andretti Green Racing to mainstream the Boost brand and appeal to Danica fans everywhere," she said.
