Popular hip-hop site extends reach to mobile

AllHipHop.com, a Web site that features news, reviews and even rumors on everything hip-hop, has just extended its reach with a mobile site.

According to Real Content Group, the creator of the site, urban mobile users are the biggest consumer segment to buy content, send text messages and spend time on the mobile Web. Since AllHipHop.com is highly populated with urban consumers, the decision to go mobile was a no-brainer.

"AllHipHop Mobile is out to become the No.1 mobile destination for urban consumers and the content owners and advertisers that seek to reach them," said John Huffman IV, CEO of Real Content Group, Burbank, CA.

"We will achieve this by taking the current AllHipHop.com brand, content and community and leveraging it across mobile touch points and applications that we build, own and/or license," he said.

The site delivers daily news alerts to over 300,000 tastemakers in the music industry along with hip-hop fanatics' phones and emails.

AllHipHop.com believes that content has and will always be the top product for consumers.

"AllHipHop.com needed to expand their brand and reach," Mr. Huffman said. "Our loyal online community is heavy cell phone users.

"If we didn't get there in a big way, we'd lose our audience," he said. "AllHipHop.com chose Real Content Group to make it happen via our AllHipHop Mobile joint venture."

For this, AllHipHop Mobile will create an outlet for content owners to sell and platform their music, videos, photos, games and applications.

For advertisers, the mobile site will serve as a targeted mobile research and marketing channel.

According to Alloy Access, a division of Alloy Marketing, the AllHipHop community is a valuable resource for clients to get into the mind of the urban consumer.

"Though they are the No. 1 purchasers of content, the hip-hop community would like more than just ringtones and wallpaper on their cell phones," Mr. Huffman said.

"AllHipHop Mobile will address our community's desire and need to generate revenue, save money, purchase and experience original content, get more than just entertainment news and receive what we call uVIP treatment at hot spots in their neighborhoods."

Content owners such as LOS DaMystro, music producer for stars such as Usher, J. Holiday and The-Dreams, are excited to launch music through the mobile site.

According to AllHipHop.com, the decision to team up with Real Content Group was based on its mobile expertise, network of content owners, digital distribution outlets and its mature relationships with advertising agencies.

"Mobile offers consumers what we call lifestyle benefits and the ability to experience exactly what they want on their terms," Mr. Huffman said. "Mobile offers content owners an additional marketing and distribution channel and revenue stream.

"Mobile offers advertisers direct target marketing and even down to the retail level tracking and reporting of marketing effectiveness," he said. "We are the best way to bring them all together."
