Playboy develops Audience Network

Playboy Enterprises has partnered with YouTube, Break, Veoh, Howcast and Mixercast to develop a suite of ad-supported content and contest widgets for both online and mobile.

Through this collaboration, called the Playboy Audience Network, Playboy will seek to engage consumers through the distribution of video content. This effort will help Playboy promote its television show, "The Girls Next Door," and any Playboy events.

"This is part of our "No nude lifestyle" push," said Ed Lang, senior vice president and general manager of mobile and international online at Playboy Enterprises, New York.

"We are moving to the mobile side of the business and will even be holding some content back from online and making it specific for exclusive on mobile," he said. "For us, digital consists of online and mobile."

Playboy will create content including the "Playboy Radio Minute" featuring video highlights from the Playboy Radio Morning Show on Sirius; "Bridget's Mansion Minute," a video blog featuring Bridget Marquardt of "The Girls Next Door;" and "Playboy's Guy 101" how-to videos.

Later this year, Playboy will unveil contests and user-generated content efforts to leverage the platforms of its Playboy Audience Network partners.

The Playboy Audience Network programming will be entirely non-nude.

To kick off its relationship with YouTube, Playboy announced the launch of a nationwide talent search on
www.youtube.com/playboycasting that will enable female fans to submit non-nude videos on YouTube to be selected for a private audition with Playboy's assistant photo editor Holly Madison, the star from "The Girls Next Door."

Winning submissions will bag a trip to the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles for a Playboy.com pictorial and participation in a catalog fashion shoot.

"We will create mobile extensions of whatever Bridget and Holly do," Mr. Lang said.

"We are working on mobile original content and a social media strategy for both online and mobile," he said. "It's a completely integrated approach."
