Oracle creates CRM app for BlackBerry

Software giant Oracle has created Oracle Mobile Sales Assistant for Oracle CRM on-demand customers.

Oracle Mobile Sales Assistant is an application designed to aid users in collaborating with colleagues and customers, complete tasks while out in the field and close deals while on the road.

"Our strategy is to build mobile sales that support management visibility with user productivity -- all mobile to date has been just the former," said Anthony Lye, senior vice president of CRM at Oracle, Redwood Shores, CA.

"Oracle CRM On-Demand customers [are] initially [being targeted] and, over time, Siebel CRM customers," he said. "The application is targeted to mobile professionals and their management."

Oracle Mobile Sales Assistant is a Java client application that is available on Research In Motion's BlackBerry OS 4.2 for $30 per user each month.

The user interface is designed to help sales representatives become more efficient with tasks such as managing appointments, collaborating with sales team members and connecting with customers.

In addition, the platform allows customers to view account team information and customer contact information, communicate via calls, email or SMS and driving location services, mapping service and PIM data.

"The most significant [challenge] is personal productivity," Mr. Lye said. "We connect a sales professional to CRM data and CRM services and also connect them to other services in the context of their day."
