Alltel Wireless announces RealArcade Mobile Laptop Giveaway

Carrier Alltel Wireless and digital entertainment services company RealNetworks Inc. have launched the RealArcade Mobile Laptop Giveaway.

The goal of the promotion is to get the word out about the availability of Real's online, PC and Mac games on Alltel subscribers' handsets. Now through October 31st, subscribers can download any of the 12 Real mobile games offered on Alltel Shop and will automatically be entered to win one of six prizes.

"Our main strategy is to generate awareness of the mobile games available and to create a synergy between RealArcade and Alltel to bring in new customers," said Jon Speck, senior analyst of voice and data solutions for Alltel Wireless, Little Rock, AR. Alltel is prominently featuring the RealArcade folder on their games deck with a "Download to Win" call-to-action on the main billboard screen of their Alltel Access shop and banners on their Web site.

RealNetworks is including a blurb about the promotion in their e-mail newsletter to the company's 20 million opt-in customers.

The Grand Prize winner will receive an Ultimate Gaming Laptop, equipped with a complimentary year's GamePass subscription at

The five runners-up in the promotion will win a Nintendo DSTM loaded with a copy of the game "Super Collapse! 3," originally developed by Real's own GameHouse Studios.

None of the 12 Real mobile games involved in the sweepstakes will serve mobile advertising.

The RealArcade Mobile Laptop Giveaway is targeting the core customer that is a casual gamer, ages 18-45.

"With this promotion, we are reaching a larger audience than our typical demographic for PC and online Casual Games, which are women 30 and older," said Sean Amann, general manager of sales and marketing for RealNetworks Games Division, Seattle. "This group continues to be Real's primary target for casual gaming."
