Glu Mobile Inc., a publisher of mobile games, has signed a multiyear agreement with Fox Mobile Entertainment to create and publish mobile games and content based on the Ice Age movie brand.

The mobile-exclusive game "Ice Age: Mammoth Mayhem" game is scheduled for release this summer.

"In 2006 one of Glu's most successful games was a game based on the movie, 'Ice Age 2: The Meltdown,'" said Justin Kubiak, vice president of marketing at Glu, San Mateo, CA. "The success was due in large part to a globally coordinated marketing effort that received strong support from carriers worldwide.

"By bringing well-recognized brands to mobile, aligned with major marketing events like a theatrical release, Glu is able to rally support from carriers," he said.

A mobile game based on Fox's "Ice Age 3" movie is scheduled for release in 2009.

Blue Sky Studios and Fox Animation are releasing Ice Age 3 in digital 3D on July 1, 2009 in theatres worldwide.

Ice Age 3 will be directed by Oscar-nominated Carlos Saldanha. He also directed Ice Age: The Meltdown and co-directed the original Ice Age.

The Ice Age 3 movie features the voices of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah and Denis Leary. Lori Forte and John Donkin will be producing the film. The script was penned by Michael Berg and Peter Ackerman.

The Ice Age brand has already grossed $1.2 billion worldwide.

"Our goal is to build upon the success from Ice Age 2 in developing and deploying engaging, quality games on a worldwide basis," Mr. Kubiak said.

Separately, Glu Mobile recently completed the acquisition of Superscape, a publisher of 3D mobile games.

Also announced at the recent Game Developers Conference was Glu's lineup of mobile games for the first half of this year: Space Monkey, Age of Empires III Mobile, Mystery Case Files: Agent X, Solitaire Pop, Speed Racer, Wedding Dash, Frantic Factory, Get Cookin', CrossPix by glu, Super Slam Ping Pong and the Dark Knight.
