Mogreet launches Valentine's Day ecards

Mobile messaging start-up company Mogreet Inc. announced a special series of Valentine's Day ecards for mobile phones featuring short scenes from the hit movie "Twilight."

Mogreets are mobile video greeting cards that marry the engagement of video with the personalization of text. Mogreet customers are mostly 13-17 year olds.

"MMS offers consumers a richer and more personalized way of expressing their message and also allows them to associate via Mogreets with some of the most entertaining Hollywood content," said Mitch Feinman, general manager of Mogreets, Venice Beach, CA.

According to Nielsen Mobile, 29 percent of mobile subscribers in the U.S. over the age of 13 send or receive MMS messages on a regular basis

Mogreets are delivered by MMS where available, or as an attachment to a SMS text message.

Twilight is using Mogreets in addition to some other initiatives, as a way to bridge the gap between the theatrical and DVD release March 21.

With more than 3,000 mobile video greetings in its library, Mogreet offers an array of content, including ecards featuring high-profile celebrities and memorable movie clips.

Mogreet has relationships with several top-tier content partners, including Paramount Digital Entertainment and FOX Searchlight.

A number of celebrities have recorded original lines of Mogreets, including former N Sync star Lance Bass, reality-television star Tila Tequila and Mona Love, the animated alter ego of Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Currently, Mogreets can be sent in various ways: from the company's Web site at http://www.mogreet.com directly from a mobile device.

Mogreets are also available through the AT&T Multimedia Storefront, Sprint Fun Text Messaging and will be available on Verizon by month's end.

"The strategy behind this news to let the consumer know that Mogreet offers a fun and inexpensive way for last-minute Valentine's Day senders to send a message to their loved ones," Mr. Feinman said.
