Magnifoca launches Facebook application for Windows Mobile

Mobile application developer Magnifoca Inc. launched Snap2Face, a new Facebook mobile platform for Windows Mobile clients.

Windows Mobile consumers can now access Facebook on their selected mobile devices via Magnifoca's mobile platform, called Snap2Face.

Snap2Face is accessible from Windows Mobile-powered Pocket PCs or smartphones such as Motorola Q, Samsung Blackjack, HTC Touch, AT&T Tilt and T-Mobile Dash.

Facebook is an online and mobile social network that connects people based on school and area networks.

The site is used for social networking, uploading photos and videos, and sharing links and blog posts.

The Snap2Face application features a graphic-rich user interface, the ability to set Facebook status, view friends' status and friends' friends. Users can also send friendship requests, receive notifications of events such as wall posts, messages, pokes or friend requests.

Via the application, users can also view pokes, walls, inboxes and friend requests in full text.

Additionally, consumers can poke friends, send messages and post on friends' walls. They can access photo albums, upload photos from built-in cameras or file folders and import friends' profile photos to Outlook Contacts.

The application requires Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs, smartphones and a .Net Compact Framework.

The Snap2Face application is free for customers who have the Windows Mobile operating system on their mobile phones.

To install Snap2Face on Windows Mobile devices, users must open the Snap2Face login page from the Internet browser on their desktop computer.

After email and password information has been filled out, users are instructed to check the box marked "Save my login info to avoid logging in to Facebook again to use this application." Then they may login to the application.

After completion, consumers are redirected to the optional second step which gives Snap2Face permission to upload photos, without the pending and approval process found on Facebook for desktop computers.

The final step requires users to download the CAB file. Using ActiveSync, consumers may copy the file onto their Windows Mobile device, browse to it with File Explorer and click to install it.

The maker of Snap2Face, Magnifoca, does not collect users' information, or share it with any third-party.
