Honda's site redesign blends mobile, storytelling and information

The online destination weaves a story about Honda?s values, while providing information for users on any device, designed for mobile first and then expanding out. The design strategy helps the site look sleek and readable on smaller devices, rather than attempting to squeeze the overabundance of content and images from designed-for-desktop interface.

?For the launch of the new Honda Corporate website, we took a mobile-first approach in order to make the consumer experience accessing content as seamless as possible, regardless of which device is being used,? said Jignesh Patel, digital marketing manager at American Honda.

Driving mobile first
Honda?s new About page shows consumers the value of its company and provides a way for them to find information they need while on the go. Users can go to Honda.com/about on all devices to read about its efforts with mobility, safety, environment and its community.
The Web site opens with a quote from Honda?s founder, who introduces the company?s innovative ideas and new projects. Honda then congregates fun and interesting facts about the company.

For instance, a series of circles include various numbers that mean something to the company, reading ?7 continents running Honda equipment, yes even Antarctica,? ?50 percent of CO2 emissions will be further cut from our products by 2050,? and ?0 vehicle collisions by 2040, our most momentous dream yet.?

The automaker than provides the history of Honda, making the heart and motives of the company clear and bringing consumers into its narrative for a closer relationship. The design features a sleek interface that makes it easy to read and scroll.
Honda has also incorporated capability for users to browse and apply to career opportunities at the automaker. Through the Careers tab, users can grab information regarding job openings and apply.

Honda history
Honda highly values its history and connecting with auto fans and consumers by sharing its story and involving individuals.

For instance, Honda documented the rebuilding of its first vehicle to be manufactured in the United States in a mobile video series, hoping to create a deep connection with fans through a love of history (see more).

Also, the brand shifted into high gear on mobile, targeting millennials for a Civic redesign through ads unique to social media platforms that do well with the young demographic (see more).

?The new Honda Corporate website provides us the opportunity to share Honda?s brand story with consumers, while helping people discover what Honda is all about as a company ? Honda is about more than simply automobiles, and through the newly launched Corporate site, we are able to share our commitment to mobility, environment and safety in a rich and compelling way,? Mr. Patel said.
