Veveo and Verizon bring simple video search to consumers
Mobile video search provider Veveo has extended its partnership with Verizon to power service functionality for FiOS TV customers.
With this partnership, FiOS subscribers can use Veveo's video search platform to discover relevant video content directly from a mobile phone, standard television remote or PC. Now, Verizon's more than 1.2 million customers could easily find what they are looking for, with searches for Verizon's linear channels, video-on-demand, and DVR content readily accessible from anywhere.
"Veveo has been working commercially with Verizon for more than 15 months," said Guru Pai, vice president of marketing and business development at Veveo, Andover, MA. "During this time Veveo's search solution was successfully marketed to and tested by Verizon's FiOS customers.
"Verizon and Veveo have extended their agreement to power search functionality for Verizon's FiOS TV customers," he said.
Mr. Pai also said that it is both Veveo and Verizon's goal to deliver the most interactive and personalized video experience possible. Through the agreement between Veveo and Verizon, the companies aim to ensure that Verizon's users are able to easily find the most relevant video content out there.
Veveo's service, vtap, is a mobile web video search service that enables consumers to search, view and save relevant web videos from any video and programs available, that are adjusted to the users preferences and personal mobile device.
The service is free to consumers and features more than 170 million videos from more than 50,000 sites across the Web.
Today, consumers have the ability to watch hundreds of linear channels, Video-on-Demand items, and time-shifted content recorded on DVRs. As the amount of video content available to TV viewers increases, content discovery becomes a more important component of the overall user experience.
"Veveo has solved the problem of searching for and discovering relevant content among millions of videos and programs available by using the keypads on existing TV remotes," Mr. Pai said.
"Veveo's search and discovery solution takes the work out of finding content through its incremental search technology which works similarly to keypads on a keyboard by beginning to predict what you're searching for as you type it into your TV remote."
