Mr. Bean?s animated series extends global footprint with mobile
The popular Animated "Mr. Bean" series will now be distributed via wireless carriers around the world as well as retailed via Mobile Streams? mobile Internet retail stores.
Independent television production company Tiger Aspect Productions and mobile content retailer Mobile Streams have announced a partnership to extend the Mr. Bean brand globally.
?In the past four years Mobile Streams and Tiger Aspect have worked together to make Mr. Bean one of the most successful and widely distributed TV series on mobile phones worldwide,? said Arnd Aschentrup, senior vice president of content operations at Mobile Streams, Hanover, Germany.
?As the mobile market matures, Mobile Streams has extended its commitment to this unique brand through an extended deal with leading British production company Tiger Aspect,? he said.
Mobile Streams is the mobile content retailer for other successful brands such as HBO's ?Sex and the City,? ?True Blood? and ?Entourage? as well as ?Happy Tree Friends.?
The partnership provides Mobile Streams with full access to the entire Mr. Bean animation catalogue.
The series is based on the hugely successful TV series Mr. Bean and includes classic episodes such as: ?Missing Teddy,? ?No Parking? and ?Bean?s Bounty,? all of which are voiced by Rowan Atkinson.
In addition to downloading their favorite video clips from the series, fans can also personalize their mobile phone with a range of other mobile products from the Mr. Bean brand including audio voice tones and screensavers.
The animated Mr. Bean series was launched in 2002 and is currently broadcasted to more than 60 countries around the world.
Mr. Bean appeals to a broad audience through its universal humor and charm.
Hence, the mobile products are popular with the new generation of mobile content users who are predominantly female and older than the early adopters.
For each region and channel Mobile Streams chooses the most appropriate commercial model.
For premium products like Mr. Bean there continues to be success in pay-per-download offerings and affordable paid video streams, per Mr. Aschentrup.
?Mr. Bean is perfect for mobile as only a few shows have such a universal humor and appeal,? Mr. Aschentrup said. ?It also doesn't rely on language, the animation is timeless, it works great on the small screen and there are great stories in longer and shorter episodes that can be enjoyed on 2.5G networks just as well as on mobile TV and streaming.?
