Dive Brief:
- Google is taking Glass on tour to give U.S. consumers direct exposure to its newest device.
- Each stop will see representatives from the tech giant answer questions and allow a hands-on look at the wearable tech toy.
- The tour will start Oct. 5 in Durham, N.C., and future dates are to be determined.
Dive Insight:
This physical tour of a Glass is an excellent way to get the device into the hands (and on the radars) of consumers prior to its expected public launch in 2014. Although it hasn't announced a price, Google will really to have to work to prove Glass' usefulness and value, especially when everyone already has smartphones. It's an experience that is hard to imagine without trying the device on, so physical trials are a smart marketing move.
