- Social media shop Shareable has pulled together some engagement data that shows Facebook-owned Instagram quickly catching up to its social giant owner in terms of engagement.
- In Q2, Instagram racked up 6,932 actions-per-post — nearly three times what the parent platform pulled in at 2,396 actions-per-post.
- Instagram is growing fast with brand posts as well, counting 493,000 in Q2 — a year-over-year increase of 42% compared to Facebook's growth of 22%.
Of course, at this point it's an apples to oranges comparison — Facebook has been around for 10 years while Instagram hasn't yet seen its fourth birthday. That being said, Instagram is showing some serious growth in engagement and brand posts that could really open doors for marketers and advertisers in the future. While it's not certain what the growth means yet for marketers, the future looks bright.
