Dive Brief:
- The ad tech industry is far behind the national norm in hiring women into executive positions.
- A study of prominent ad tech firms from Digiday found only 10% of their combined board members were women, compared to 17% of Fortune 500 firms.
- Only one of the six companies studied, Marin Software, listed females in executive officers positions.
Dive Insight:
The problem of a lopsided distribution towards male executives is not exclusive to the ad tech industry, but for an industry with such progressive tendencies, it is disappointing. With men dominating the board positions and selection process, it can narrow the opportunities for women, and there is also the issue of there just not being that many women applying for the positions. It may be up to the women already in positions of power at these firms to push for more women to get involved.
