St. Andrews Country Club attracts new members via iPhone app
St. Andrews Country Club of Boca Raton is attracting new members via an iPhone application that communicates club events and activities to them.
The application lets current and future members view the facilities of the private country club. The application is available for free download in Apple?s App Store.
?Our strategy is to allow our members to access information about the events and activities happening at the club over the next week,? said Kristen Pfeifer, director of communications and member services at St. Andrews Country Club, Boca Raton, FL.
?We have made the information public so that potential members can gain a perspective of the lifestyle offered at St. Andrews Country Club,? she said. ?Ultimately we hope to increase member participation at events while increasing our brand exposure globally.?
St. Andrews Country Club of Boca Raton, a resident-only Platinum Club of America, is internationally recognized for its estate residences, amenities, two 18-hole championship golf courses, including an Arnold Palmer Signature Design, 15 clay tennis courts, a state-of-art spa and fitness center and a 125,000-square-foot Clubhouse in the center of it all.
Special invitation
Users can view upcoming events, read the latest news and view homes currently for sale in the community.
Additionally, the application features maps of both 18-hole championship courses ? the Palmer and Olde.
Members can also share the latest info and photos via Facebook and Twitter.
?The communication to members has evolved with technology,? Ms. Pfeifer said. ?Posters and flyers used to be the norm in promoting events but now members are relying on smartphones to get their information when and where they want it.
?Mobile proves to be a faster and more economical way to get their attention,? she said. ?We plan to release an Android app by the end of March and are looking into expanding our entire Web site to a mobile platform.?

?We have promoted the iPhone app internally via email blasts, enewsletters and our monthly LifeStyle Magazine,? Ms. Pfeifer said. ?We are investigating the cost and logistics of mirroring our public and private Web sites as a mobile site.
?This will enable members to login to our member portal where they can post golf scores and make dinner reservations,? she said. ?While they are able to do this now using a Web browser from their smartphone, our current sites are not maximized for best performance on a mobile device.?
