Metacafe short-form videos now available on mobile

Online video entertainment site Metacafe is making its large catalog of short-form videos available to viewers via their mobile devices.

Metacafe has teamed with Quattro Wireless, a mobile ad network. Quattro will help launch the mobile site and will provide the entire video delivery platform.

"Quattro will be providing Metacafe with a range of mobile services," said Lars Albright, vice president of business development with Quattro Wireless, Waltham, MA. "We are providing the platform for video, creating the site and assisting with ad sales on the site.

"Basically we are providing Metacafe with a complete suite of services as it moves from the Internet to the mobile Web," he said.

Metacafe will join Quattro's mobile ad network via the entertainment channel.

Quattro advertisers will now have the option of serviing ads on the Metacafe mobile site.

Metacafe has nearly 30 million monthly viewers online.

Using the Quattro platform, Metacafe can extend its brand and broaden its audience while remaining focused on delivering an exceptional short-form video entertainment experience powered and programmed by the audience.

Quattro enables Metacafe to pursue new and advanced opportunities for advertising partners on the new mobile site, with special banner placements and channel sponsorships. Quattro will sell and serve ads on behalf of Metacafe.

Big brands like Toyota, Land Rover, American Express, Sony, the U.S. Navy and Microsoft are advertising on Quattro's mobile ad network.

Sites in the entertainment sector of the network include TheInsider.com, Cracked.com, Savvy.com, Fandango.com, Hollywood.com, JoBlo.com and MovieWeb.com

Quattro's Juicing and video delivery platform helps Metacafe extend its short videos to mobile in a real-time streaming and download offering.

Metacafe's VideoRank technology will power the mobile video content selection by showcasing the most entertaining videos, as determined by the audience, within Quattro's mobile site format.

Metacafe is particularly well suited for mobile because its videos are short-form.

Short-form videos are viewed well on mobile.

"Metacafe picked us because of our expertise in various areas of mobile," Mr. Albright said. "Giving users access to videos on the mobile device is big and a first time in the mobile space.

"In terms of the mobile audience, we feel it will be comparable to their online demographic and somewhat of a similar translation," he said.
