Dive Brief:
- A survey of over 300 marketing and IT leaders by Forbes and Forrester revealed the relationship between CIOs and CMOs remains weak.
- The survey sought to discover each group's perception of the other. About half (49%) of IT leaders think they are doing a great job of hiring employees with marketing expertise, while only 19% of marketers agree.
- Of the IT executives, 70% believe they can effectively communicate marketing's priorities, but only 49% of marketers believe they can do the same for IT's priorities.
Dive Insight:
The natural work flow and communication of tactics between the marketing department and IT is quite different, which leads to a lot of the miscommunication. Technology is the one bridge connecting the two departments and should be where the groups start to reach a middle ground.
