LookBird, Vuclip to power LookLister.com's mobile video service

LookBird Inc. has partnered with Vuclip for LookLister.com's mobile video application.

LookLister.com is LookBird's private mobile video hosting and storage service designed to give consumers the ability to brand their videos with custom frames to deliver a personalized message. LookLister offers Flash encoding of uploaded videos, frame customization using FrameCreator, embed links to post and share videos, five gigabytes of storage, and video uploads up to two hours in length.

"With our LookLister Web site we are concentrating our efforts on building tools for Internet uses of video and the archiving of those videos for both personal and for businesses needs," said Dan Pimpan, CEO of LookBird, Emeryville, CA. "Video is very dense in terms of the amount of disk space required and in terms of serving those videos.

"With our partner Vuclip and their concentration on the mobile video market, we felt that this was a very complementary service," he said. Vuclip offers a separate system and process to handle a multitude of mobile devices that can take months to test and develop."

LookLister is currently in beta.

The FrameCreator tool allows users to select an image from LookLister's frame gallery or upload an image to frame the video.

Features coming soon to LookLister include the auto-embedding of videos into popular e-commerce and auction Web sites.

"Our newly developed eBay API allows eBay sellers to automatically embed a sales video into their auction listing with just few clicks," Mr. Pimpan said. "We believe that everyone wants a sense of control when publishing videos that are important to them and the demographics will be as varied as the videos themselves."

Vuclip's mobile video technology allows LookLister to reach out to a cross-platform, international mobile audience.

"The use of video on the Internet is still in its infancy, so our market is very broad in terms of who uses video and for what purpose," Mr. Pimpan said. "By providing and continuing to develop our tool sets to meet our customers different needs, we in effect become a video command central."

For example, parents with videos of their children can have the grandparents view them without dealing with the intricacies of a social video platform.

LookLister guarantees that consumers' videos will be viewable on more than 2,000 mobile devices and in more than 130 countries.

LookLister.com is owned and operated by LookBird Inc.

The company is comprised of Internet marketing and technical individuals who believe that video will take the place of more traditional Web site content and bring in new ways for companies to market their products and services in order to expand personal communication.

Vuclip claims to be the most widely-used mobile video search site in the world.

Vuclip's mobile video search and delivery service lets consumers access any video on the Internet and watch it on any video-enabled phone.

Vuclip can find videos, transcode and optimize them on the fly, and then deliver them to a consumer's mobile phone in real-time.

The service is free, although standard carrier data charges apply.

Vuclip also lets online publishers and content owners mobilize their video content through its Vuclip Video API Program.

Vuclip delivers mobile video streaming with a rich multimedia experience across all wireless networks and handsets.

As it stands now, Vuclip presents advertisements along with the converted video when viewed on a mobile device.

Vuclip can serve WAP banner and text ads on its WAP pages through its ad network partnerships.

Vuclip can also provide video ads -- including pre-rolls and post-rolls -- within premium video content.

LookBird uses the standard tools and channels to get the word out about LookLister.

"As with any Web site, it's the power of positive recommendation that has always been the driving force in success," Mr. Pimpan said. "With our beta site you'll see that we've built it to be simple, effective and modular, and our FrameCreator is a unique approach to video presentations.

"Vuclip represents a part of our tool offerings and we will continue our development based on customers request," he said. "Our marketing tactic? Give people control, give them useful tools and keep it simple."
