- Opening weekend sales were the biggest in Apple's history for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus -- sales totaled 10 million units.
- The iPhone 6 versions beat out the previous record of 9 million for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c.
- The record was broken even without opening weekend sales in China -- a big market for Apple and one country that was included in the iPhone 5s and 5c.

It will be interesting to see if the bigger screens help Apple gain back some of its market share lost from large screened Android smartphones like Samsung's Galaxy series.
