Dive Insight:
Coach is trying to tap into Gen Z’s connection to musicians from around the world with a fall campaign encompassing a wide-ranging Spotify integration, story-driven ads and experiential elements. The seasonal push, which is debuting on the tails of New York Fashion Week, brings together a number of up-and-coming artists, including several who are part of an &Coach storytelling platform the Tapestry-owned brand launched in June.
The campaign’s concept aims to appeal to Gen Z’s desire to “spend less time behind screens and connect more deeply in real life,” Coach CMO Joon Silverstein said in a statement. New ads depict Fanning, a fixture of Coach’s marketing, as a bus driver who picks up different celebrities. Those include British pop musician PinkPantheress — a recent addition to Coach’s roster — and ambassadors like the Korean singer-songwriter Soyeon, Japanese singer-songwriter Lilas and Chinese singer Shan Yichun.
Vincent Haycock directed the quartet of films, which show the characters moving from isolation to a shared sense of camaraderie as the bus rolls along and music brings them together. Each of the five celebrities also sports a custom Tabby bag that is adorned with Coach’s new concert ticket charms.
The music theme carries over to a branded Spotify hub where listeners can explore and share their tastes and playlists. Users can also try out a Courage Frequency that will give them one of six Courage Signs symbolizing how the trait shows up in their music preferences. Coach is also partnering with QQ Music in China, a leading music streamer in the country, and expanding its existing work with the video-sharing platform Bilibili.
Spotify and Coach’s Tabby Tour bus, which is inspired by the vehicle Fanning drives in the ads, kicks off its journey in New York on Wednesday and will travel to college campuses and other venues around the U.S., U.K., Japan and South Korea. QQ Music is supporting a similar experience in China.
Along with live performances, visitors to the Tabby Tour can customize different products like Coach hangtags, stop by a photo booth to snap pictures and pick up collectible merchandise. Artists Tinashe, Rachel Chinouriri, Nxdia, Fousheé and Alessi Rose will appear and perform at select stops along the tour, which can be tracked through an interactive map on Spotify. Spotify is positioning the Coach experience as an example of how brands can activate on its platform and drive cultural impact in a way that extends beyond traditional advertising.
Coach has been ramping up investments in marketing, including through more upper-funnel activities, as it continues to win over coveted Gen Z consumers. Coach revenue rose 15% for the fiscal quarter ended June 27, contributing to a 9% gain for parent Tapestry. Coach’s revenue was up 24% for the company’s full fiscal 2026 year.
“We increased marketing spend by approximately 20% versus the prior year with a continued shift toward top-of-funnel brand building to support sustained customer acquisition,” Tapestry CEO Joanne Crevoiserat said on a call discussing the results last month. “Coach's ‘Explore Your Story’ campaign continued to resonate, supporting increased unaided awareness and reinforcing Coach's top-of-mind presence among Gen Z.”
