Dive Insight:
Peacock is dialing up the drama with Your Bravoverse, an AI-powered vertical video experience that was first announced in March and shows how AI can be used to help create new viewing experiences with the potential to deepen viewer engagement around existing intellectual property.
For advertisers, Your Bravoverse is billed as a canvas for connecting with Bravo fans by offering opportunities to be embedded into the user journey. For example, Cohen’s AI avatar could reference the brand, per release details. Wendy’s is the inaugural sponsor for the experience, building on a long-term partnership that has spanned talent tie-ups, the BravoCon fan convention and custom content.
Bravo, the television network home to popular reality shows like “Vanderpump Rules” and “The Real Housewives” franchise, maintains a loyal audience. Viewers watch 24 hours of Bravo content on average each month, according to the company, and many returning series have seen growth season-over-season since 2024.
Your Bravoverse is available for Peacock subscribers on the homepage of the platform’s mobile app. Users can select their favorite Bravo shows to be presented with a personalized playlist, with more than 600 billion possible viewing variants available, according to a company blog post. AI was used for every step of the creation process to source relevant content and weave it together, while a team of NBCU editors validates the AI’s output and checks for quality and accuracy.
Users can scroll vertically to explore personalized playlists with exclusive content and iconic scenes from current and past franchises, or swipe horizontally to navigate through a different theme of videos. Tapping directly from a clip takes users into a full episode, which could help drive longer viewing sessions. An avatar of Cohen, which was made with generative AI and trained to match his style, helps serve up content from shows users love along with shows they haven’t discovered.
The hub’s emphasis on vertical video is similar to the social media scrolling experience, which could engage digitally native younger generations. Nearly 80% of Gen Z would increase their weekly use of a streaming service if it integrated a short-form video feature, according to global market researcher Toluna.
CTV platforms have sought to capture a larger share of advertising dollars as brands flock to streaming environments. U.S. ad spend on the channel is expected to rise 11% this year to $29.3 billion, according to the Interactive Advertising Bureau.
The launch of Your Bravoverse is one way Peacock is attempting to strengthen its platform, with other recent moves including the addition of unscripted microdramas, minigames and advancements in vertical video formats. Other streaming platforms have similarly debuted flashy new features as cord-cutting behavior by consumers continues. Earlier this week, Walmart’s Vizio rolled out a slate of new entertainment offerings, including over 40 creator-led channels.
